Walbridge Park on Broadway Street opened in the late 1800's and largely
destroyed by fire in 1938. The city bought the land in 1874 and it first was called Riverside Park. It had a midway, restaurant,
rides, dance hall and boat and canoe rentals. This was an ideal place to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon in the summer
time.
